I recently completed my first marathon this past Sunday and really enjoyed the experience. I am quite the rookie when it comes to running, so I was pretty nervous leading up to race day.  I was especially nervous because I have been dealing with an IT band injury and had to back off in my training after my 15 mile training run. I knew if I overdid it, I wouldn't have been able to run.  I was so diligent to ask others to pray for me and my knee.  Starting the race, I knew my knee would be killing me at the 3rd mile.  My focus verses through the marathon were Psalm 143:8 "Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.  show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul," and also Hebrews 12:11 "No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful, later on however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it."  By God's grace, I finished with a smile on my face, remembering the reason why I race'-TO BRING HIM GLORY! I can't wait to run another marathon with a healthy knee.
